“A madcap mystery in the mountains.”
The Idea People, a suspenseful new novel by Mike Lubow, blends the vibrant advertising scene of 1980s Madison Avenue with the untamed beauty of the Colorado wilderness. The book follows Ben Franklin Green, a burnt-out ad agency whiz who quits his job in the middle of a presentation gone wrong and finds himself reluctantly drawn into a baffling missing person case in the Rocky Mountains.
Fast-paced and fun, the book is filled with adventure, mystery, humor, nature, romance and suspense. Advertising folk will get a kick out of the agency rat race references. Wilderness and nature lovers will appreciate the vividly descriptive landscapes. Adventure enthusiasts will relish the twists, turns and intrigue.
A gifted storyteller, Lubow masterfully includes his love for birding and nature into the plot, creating a rich, multifaceted narrative for everyone who appreciate a well-crafted adventure story sprinkled with irreverent wit, humor and literary references.
Glowing Praise
“Deftly crafted with a narrative-driven storytelling style that fully engages the reader’s total attention from start to finish, THE IDEA PEOPLE will have a special attraction to fans of romance and politics, action and adventure, suspense and the West.“
-Midwest Book Review
“A suspenseful trek through the Colorado wilderness. Amateur ad-exec detectives are certainly a rarity in the genre, and Lubow does a fine job…The mystery itself takes lively detours and has an unexpected resolution…”
